The houseboats cruising across the backwaters of Kerala is a picturesque shot for tourists around the world. Thousands flock every year to experience the houseboat ride and backwater beauty. There are numerous houseboats in Kerala, providing different number of rooms and other facilities. Most of the houseboats possess common factors such as well appointed bedrooms with AC, big sliding window to view the panoramic view of the outside. Each room provides a dining table with chairs, LCDTV etc. There is a common living room and a balcony. The toilets of the houseboats have all modern facilities.

  • Security Provided in Houseboat

    All houseboats are taken to the Service dock immediately after the season and are well maintained. High quality things are provided in houseboats for the tourists. The houseboat guarantees full security of the guests. All the rooms are well maintained and are having mosquito repellant and nets.
  • Safety Precautions inside the Houseboat

    All the safety rules and regulations are followed by the staff inside the houseboat. Every houseboat has adequate number of life buoys, life jackets and fire buckets etc. There is round the clock backup support from the staff and having a mobile phone communication with the office. There is a storage facility for fuel in each houseboat. A first aid facility with medicines is kept on all houseboats.

    Houseboats are legally allowed to cruise only between 6.30 AM to 6.00 PM
  • Boat Security

    Due to security reasons guestst are requested to be in the assigned bedrooms after 10.30 PM
  • Best time to Visit

    High season: September-May , Monsoon Rejuvenation programmes: June-August
  • Credit Card

    Main hotels, Restaurants and Shopping centres honour major credit cards.
  • Travel Kit

    Cotton outfits; hats, sunglasses, sunscreen lotion etc.
  • Drugs

    Heavy penalties including imprisonment for possession of narcotic drugs.
  • Ayurveda

    Go only to those Ayurveda centres that are classified/approved by the Department of Tourism.
  • Food

    All standard restaurants offer a variety of cuisines including Continental, Chinese, Indian and typical Kerala fare.
  • Water

    Tap water is purified and quite safe to drink. It is not advisable to drink water from slow moving streams, lakes or dams. Bottled water is also available.

    Behaviour, demonstrating affection in public like hugging or kissing is not an accepted practice in Kerala.
